Salary Surveys - The 3 Golden Rules

  1. When reviewing external vacancies, your true market worth will only be met if there is an exact match on your background and experience. If you have recently obtained a new level of responsibility, you will need to have sustained that position for at least 6 - 12 months before you can be assessed at that level.
  2. Most salary surveys offer a very broad range so its advantageous to speak with a recruiter directly as they can provide more exact figures
  3. Most jobs provide some form of salary range. If you apply to a position that falls either over or under your current salary by around 30%, then there's a fair chance that you are wasting your time applying.
